The Consultation

The first consultation will last between 1 and 2 hours. During this time I will take a comprehensive medical history. I will also ask you questions about your diet and other aspects of your lifestyle such as exercise and smoking. I may also take your blood pressure and perform a physical examination as required. It is important that I am aware of any medications (prescribed or over the counter), supplements, or remedies that you are currently taking.
After the consultation I will discuss my findings with you and usually offer you dietary and lifestyle advice. I understand that it can be very difficult to incorporate dietary and lifestyle changes and I always take this into consideration.
The herbal medicine is usually a mixture of herbal tinctures (alcoholic extracts) tailor made to suit your indvidual needs. Sometimes an herbal tea is prescribed instead of, or in addition to, the tincture. Where necessary a topical preparation, such as a lotion or cream, may also be offered.
Subsequent consultations are shorter and usually occur 2 weeks after the first and then 4 weekly thereafter.
I may wish, with your permission, to write to you GP or consultant. There are times when this is necessary to ensure that you receive the best treatment from all your healthcare providers.
I will refer you to your GP if I feel that conventional medical treatment is required.
